New Greebo P-Orcling Unboxing

Image
The New Models in the Greebo Cutiemals Range I'd been eyeing the Greebo Cutiemals range for a while, so when the new P-Orclings popped onto the Greebo store, I snapped them up for a Sevens team- let's take a look: The P-Orclings in running poses. First up, the new pigs which were released for the 'Black Orc' style team. These models are fantastic- the facial expressions and action poses give them some real character. They're relatively 'simple' when you look at their bodies- not many details to pick out with the paintbrush, but being so small, you don't end up with too much blank space. P-Orclings standing still. The more static poses carry a ironic menace- the little pigs grimacing, but still end up looking just as cute. I will mention that the middle pig, on all fours, does not connect quite as well to the base as the others. I'm not concerned he will snap off, but he doesn't have the flat surface to connect as the others. The backs of the mo

New Blood Bowl Khorne Team- First Impressions

Image
Games Workshop just released the new Khorne team at GenCon- how does the team stack up? Overall, the models do look good. If I had one complaint, it would be that a few of them look more like AOS miniatures than Blood Bowl miniatures, but I'm excited to see the new rules for a Khorne team. Bloodborn Marauder Linemen For me, these are perhaps the weakest part of the set- and the most AOS looking of the miniatures. The heads make a big difference- the top-knot head options wouldn't be for me, but then the models would have identical duplicates. As the linemen of the team, they're solid overall- a 6/10. Bloodseekers I really like the Bloodseekers- they have been sculpted in a way that they look like they're playing a sport, while maintaining some of the distinct Khorne aesthetic. The poses have some good dynamism to them- almost mirroring the poses of the Bloaters from the Nurgle team. These make it to a 8/10. Khorngor This is my favourite part of the new set. The Khorng

Is Warhammer too expensive? Part 3- Playing OOP games

Image
Before I begin on part 3, a quick note: Part 3 is going to focus on Games Workshop games still, specifically games no longer made by the company. I'm going to take a look at why these games are still worth your time! Out of Production Games and you Out of Production (OOP) games are those which are no longer supported by the company that produced them. No new models are being made for them, no rules updates, no new codex to buy. So you might think that they aren't worth playing. Warmaster- a 10mm scale game made by Games Workshop in the 2000s It can be a hard sell. Everyone you know is playing something with current rules, there are no new models to get excited about and you may not have even heard of them before. But OOP games aren't dead- they have just found a new life, a life beyond Games Workshop. The Positives Let's take a look at why you may enjoy an OOP game in 2021: No constant rules updates- no keeping up with the new edition, or buying a book every 2 years. If

Is Warhammer too expensive? Part 2- The cheapest way to start playing Warhammer

Image
In Part 1, I looked at some of the discussion surrounding the price of Games Workshop models. In Part 2, I'm going to break down the cost to start various different games, and think about why the 2 we see the most of; Age of Sigmar and Warhammer 40k, are actually the worst games to start with. We're going to have a look at the cheapest* ways to get into a few games in comparison to 40k and Age of Sigmar. In each case, I won't be factoring in hobby supplies (glue, paint, brushes etc.) as these are roughly similar for each game, or terrain (unless the game needs a custom board, such as Blood Bowl). I'm going to refer to prices on the Games Workshop store- but you can get most of these products 10-20% off if you shop around. A Quick Note: Non-Games Workshop Games This may be one of the first places you're pointed to, especially by those disgruntled with Games Workshop, if you're looking for a reasonably priced game to play. There are pros and cons with this though
